The Unallocated Space Mame Cabinet started as a joint project between C-P and Crypt0s that is built out of an original 1982 Mrs. PacMan Machine.

Hardware

The original parts still in the cabinet are as follows:

Cabinet itself Glass cover for the screen Plastic light cover Light fixture assembly Motherboard Mounts

Generation 1

There is currently a modern motherboard and speaker setup running inside of the mame cabinet which runs Debian Linux with a cabrio GUI frontend to choose games, which are then executed by mame.

Crypt0s built the hardware and painted it C-P built the software frontend from cabrio and tweaked it.

Generation 2

Operating system was switched to Windows 7 with the MaLa frontend GUI.

Due to the hard drive starting to die, backups were made and switched to an SSD.

Generation 3

During the hackathon on Feb 10th, 2024, the SSD was set up with Ubuntu 22.04 to migrate away from the unsupported OS. A frontend has not been selected yet.
