Class 1

Length: 2 hrs

Hardware Basics - Building a computer from scratch gives you the perfect machine for your needs, but it can be daunting the first time around. For our first lesson in building your own PC, we start with a little computer hardware basics.

Choose and Buy Your Parts - In this lesson, we'll show you how to most effectively pick out and shop for your parts.

Class 2

Length: 3 hrs (Optional) – Fieldtrip to Micro Center

Let’s be honest, these classes are not complete until we do a fieldtrip to our local computer supply store. As determined by the class, we will choose a day to carpool to Micro Center (or another store of our choosing).

Class 3

Length: 3 hrs

Building the Computer - Assembling your computer can seem daunting, but it's actually pretty easy. In part 1, we show you step-by-step how to put everything together.

Installing Your Operating System (e.g. Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com ,Windows, etc.) - Once you've put it together, you're past the difficult portion. With installing your operating system and get everything up and running. --

Show Off & Further Resources - This night we will show off our creations and share any resources we discovered.
